Zoltán Lantos
Zoltán Lantos (born 1962) is a Hungarian violinist and composer working at the intersection of jazz, world music, and Indian classical music. Having studied both Western classical violin and the sarangi in India with Ram Narayan, he developed an approach that integrates Indian raga structure and ornamental technique with jazz improvisation and Central European folk music. His albums on ECM and Hungarian independent labels demonstrate an unusual synthesis that has attracted recognition in both jazz and world music contexts. He is one of the few European musicians to have genuinely integrated Indian classical training into a personal and original improvisational practice.
