Z'ev

Z'ev (Stefan Joel Silverman, 1951–2017) was an American percussionist and sound poet who performed solo on industrial metal objects — including oil drums, sheet metal, steel girders, and industrial detritus — creating dense rhythmic and tonal works of great power and originality. He was one of the earliest practitioners of industrial percussion and was active in the experimental underground from the late 1970s until his death.

Working without amplification in his earliest period, Z'ev developed a practice of physically exhausting performance in which the percussionist's body and the metal objects were both transformed by the encounter.
