Zeitkratzer
Zeitkratzer is a Berlin-based chamber ensemble founded by Reinhold Friedl in 1997, comprising musicians from classical, jazz, and experimental backgrounds. The ensemble specialises in live performance of extreme and experimental music — works by Helmut Lachenmann, Alvin Lucier, and Terre Thaemlitz — and cross-genre projects with Whitehouse (performing their electronic music acoustically), Lou Reed, and Keiji Haino. Their approach challenges boundaries between notated composition and free improvisation, and between classical performance practice and avant-garde noise.
