Wolf Vostell

Wolf Vostell (1932–1998) was a German-Spanish artist and a key figure in the Fluxus movement, known for his happenings, dé-coll/age works, and early video art. He was born in Leverkusen and spent much of his later life in Spain, where he founded the Museo Vostell Malpartida, a permanent installation housing his work in Extremadura.

His concept of dé-coll/age — tearing and collaging posters and images — was developed in parallel with similar ideas emerging from Fluxus and related movements, and he was one of the first artists to incorporate television sets into happenings and installations, making him alongside Nam June Paik a pioneer of video art.
