Wire

Wire are a British post-punk group formed in London in 1976, whose first three albums — Pink Flag (1977), Chairs Missing (1978), and 154 (1979) — are considered foundational texts of punk, post-punk, and minimalist rock. The band stripped rock to its most essential elements with a programmatic rigor that distinguished them from virtually all their contemporaries: short songs, few notes, radical economy of means.

Pink Flag contains twenty-one songs in under thirty-six minutes, many lasting under a minute, anticipating hardcore punk while remaining entirely their own invention.
