William Cobbing
William Cobbing is a British sculptor, filmmaker, and performance artist born in 1974 in London, where he continues to live and work. He studied at Central Saint Martins and De Ateliers, Amsterdam, and holds a PhD by practice from Middlesex University. Clay is central to his practice, with themes of metamorphosis, entropy, and the dissolution of body and earth. He has held residencies at Turquoise Mountain in Kabul and the British School at Rome, and his work has been exhibited at the Whitechapel Gallery, Hayward Gallery, Tate Liverpool, and Camden Arts Centre.
