Wendy Eisenberg

Wendy Eisenberg is an improvising guitarist, banjo player, vocalist and poet from Gaithersburg, Maryland, now based in western Massachusetts. Trained partly at Eastman and shaped by DC jazz programs, they move fluidly between free jazz, extreme metal, new music and folk songwriting, treating guitar as an instrument of restless self-interrogation. Since the 2015 debut Collected Early Works, releases like Its Shape Is Your Touch, the John Zorn-produced The Machinic Unconscious (2018), Auto and Bent Ring (2021), and a 2026 self-titled album have made Eisenberg a defining voice in improvised and art-song practice, questioning the body's limits under technical and representational demands.
