V/Vm

V/Vm is an alias used by British artist James Kirby, also known as Leyland Kirby and The Caretaker. Under this name from the late 1990s into the 2000s, he produced provocative, transgressive work combining mangled pop samples, noise, and conceptual gestures — releases often appeared under fake or ironic labels and used aggressive recontextualisation of familiar material. The Test Records imprint was central to this output. The project sits in a space between noise music, culture jamming, and the broader tradition of radical recontextualisation in sound.
