Virgin Prunes

Virgin Prunes were an Irish post-punk and gothic rock band formed in Dublin in 1977, closely connected to U2 through shared members and the north Dublin commune Lypton Village. While U2 pursued mainstream success, Virgin Prunes — featuring vocalists Gavin Friday and Guggi alongside guitarist Dik Evans, brother of U2's The Edge — developed a theatrical and confrontational practice drawing on performance art, gender transgression, and provocation. Their 1982 debut album ...If I Die, I Die was produced by Colin Newman of Wire, and their catalogue was remastered and reissued on Mute Records in 2004.
