Violeer

Violeer is the solo power electronics project of Matthew Soko, based in Columbus, Ohio. Working alone with contact mics, tape loops, and heavily distorted electronics, Soko builds dense, abrasive walls of noise steeped in the American Midwest underground noise scene. Self-described through the terse phrases no coast, no sea, no eloquence, Violeer favors small-run cassettes and CDRs distributed via Bandcamp and Discogs, with releases including Aids for Daily Living, Heretic, Scattered Empire, Fairgrounds, and Wormwood, plus the live document Imperfect (Violeer Live in Columbus). The project sits within a DIY power electronics lineage prizing repetition and physicality over polish.
