Verraco

Verraco is the alias of JP López, a producer and DJ from Medellín, Colombia, who left music journalism behind to pursue production full time. In 2017 he founded the imprint Insurgentes with Daniel Uribe, releasing early EPs of analogue techno and electro before his own debut album Grial (2020), an IDM-inflected record built between Medellín and Barcelona around ideas of mestizo hybridity. That drive to platform Latin American talent led him to co-found TraTraTrax in 2020 alongside Nyksan and DJ Lomalinda. His productions fuse dembow, tribal guarachero, techno and jungle into dense club tracks; his 2024 EP Breathe... Godspeed, on Bristol's Timedance, earned Pitchfork's Best New Music.
