Veronica Vasicka

Veronica Vasicka is a New York-based DJ, archivist and label founder credited with coining the term "minimal wave" for the obscure synth-driven cold wave, post-punk and industrial music she unearthed while hosting a weekly show on East Village Radio, which she co-founded. Born in New York to a Uruguayan mother and Czech father, and trained as a photographer at RISD, she launched Minimal Wave Records in 2005 to reissue and preserve these lost recordings, later adding the Cititrax sublabel to platform newer, kindred artists. She compiled The Minimal Wave Tapes Volumes One and Two for Stones Throw Records, and continues to DJ globally and host a monthly show on NTS Radio.
