Venetian Snares

Venetian Snares is the alias of Aaron Funk (born 1975), a Canadian electronic musician and producer from Winnipeg. A central figure in the breakcore and IDM scene, Funk developed a style of extreme rhythmic complexity — programming drum machines at tempos far beyond conventional speed with dense polyrhythmic structures — most fully realised on Rossz Csillag Alatt Született (2005), a breakcore album composed over Béla Bartók samples. He has released prolifically on Planet Mu and his own Timesig label, with dozens of records exploring different extreme electronic territories. His work is characterised by an almost compulsive productivity and technical ferocity.
