Varuna

Varuna releases hazy, cosmic dub techno through the Basel label A Walking Contradiction, whose slogan promises work "partly truth, partly fiction." Across records including Cosmogram (2020), Supernatural Cooling and Mangrove Management, Varuna builds extended, slow-unfolding tracks drifting between ambient, dub techno and downtempo; Cosmogram was mastered by Neel of Spazio Disponibile. The music favors long-form structures, tracks often stretching past six minutes, layering murky low end with mineral textures and a half-lit atmosphere. Little is disclosed about who is behind the alias; the records, several credited with text by collaborator //suibheallan, are left to speak for themselves.
