Underworld
Underworld is the British electronic music group formed by Karl Hyde and Rick Smith, active in their most influential configuration since the early 1990s. Their albums Dubnobasswithmyheadman (1993), Second Toughest in the Infants (1996), and Beaucoup Fish (1999) are landmarks in techno and electronic pop, fusing driving rhythms with Hyde's stream-of-consciousness lyrics. Their contribution to Danny Boyle's film Trainspotting (1996), including Born Slippy .NUXX, brought their music to a global audience. Smith's production treats the studio as an instrument, building tracks from long improvised takes and layered loops, keeping the music feeling immediate across decades of acclaimed records.
