Ulrich Eller

Born in 1953 in Leverkusen, he studied painting at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin before turning to installative sound art, a practice pursued since 1978. His sculptures and spatial installations explore the interplay of acoustic and visual perception, using tensioned steel cables, modified instruments, and stones as sound-generating elements. A participant in documenta 8 in Kassel in 1987 and in both editions of the Sonambiente festival in Berlin, his work has been shown in major institutions and public spaces across Europe. He held the professorship for sound sculpture and sound installation at HBK Braunschweig from 2004 to 2020.
