Tristan Perich

Born in New York in 1982, Tristan Perich studied at Columbia University and NYU Tisch and centres his practice on one-bit electronic sound: music generated from the simplest possible digital signal. His 2004 release 1-Bit Music was the first album issued as a programmed microchip. 1-Bit Symphony (2010), housed in a standard CD jewel case containing a live circuit, extended the concept into five movements. He received the Prix Ars Electronica in 2009 for Active Field, scored for ten violins and ten-channel 1-bit music. His Interval Studies series places speaker arrays in space to generate immersive tonal fields, and he performs circuit electronics as part of the group Loud Objects.
