Trevor Wishart
Born in Leeds in 1946, Trevor Wishart is a British composer and theorist whose electroacoustic work centres on the transformation of the human voice and the sonic potential of real-world sound. His Vox Cycle, six compositions created between 1979 and 1988, is a landmark of extended vocal technique in electronic music, building on his earlier work Red Bird (1977–78). In 1986 he co-founded the Composers Desktop Project, one of the first digital signal-processing software suites developed for domestic use. His books On Sonic Art (1985, revised 1996) and Audible Design remain foundational texts in the field, and he was awarded the Giga-Herz Grand Prize in 2008.
