Trepaneringsritualen

Trepaneringsritualen is the project of Thomas Martin Ekelund, a Swedish artist working in ritual industrial, power electronics, and dark ambient. The project — whose name references the ancient practice of trepanning — constructs oppressive, liturgical sound environments from noise, electronics, and incantatory vocals, drawing on occultism, thanatology, and transgressive spirituality. Releasing on Cold Meat Industry, Malignant, Hospital, and numerous cassette labels, Ekelund has built an extensive body of work that situates itself within the tradition of Swedish death industrial while maintaining a distinctive ceremonial atmosphere and confrontational intent.
