Towering Inferno

Towering Inferno was an English experimental duo of Richard Wolfson and Andy Saunders, active from 1985 to 1999. Their sole album Kaddish (1993) was a Holocaust-reflective work of exceptional gravity, composed by Wolfson and Saunders with lyrics by Hungarian performance poet Endre Szkárosi. Released on TI Records and distributed globally by Island Records in 1995, it featured guest musicians including Chris Cutler and Tim Hodgkinson of Henry Cow, and John Marshall and Elton Dean of Soft Machine. Brian Eno described it as the most frightening record he had ever heard. The duo performed the work across Europe and Australia; Richard Wolfson died in 2005.
