Tomasz Sikorski
Tomasz Sikorski (1939–1988) was a Polish composer whose music stands apart from most of his contemporaries for its extreme asceticism and sustained focus on single pitches, limited intervals, and the hypnotic power of repetition. Born in Warsaw, he studied at the State Higher School of Music there and later in Paris with Nadia Boulanger. Despite working within Polish academic institutions, his music resisted both the sonic gesturalism of the Polish avant-garde and the serialist orthodoxies of the period.
