Tina Tonagel
Tina Tonagel (born 1973, Lemgo) is a German sound and kinetic installation artist based in Cologne. She studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) under VALIE EXPORT and since July 2025 holds a full Professorship in Sound there. Her practice centres on electromechanical sound objects and self-invented instruments — most visibly in Himalaya Variations, an audiovisual performance using overhead projectors with custom sound generators played live. She co-founded 120 DEN, an experimental ensemble playing on electronically modified mannequin legs, and collaborates as FRAUFRANKE50KILOHERTZ with cellist Elisabeth Coudoux. Shown at transmediale, EMAF, and Museum Ostwall Dortmund.
