The Residents
The Residents are an American avant-garde music and multimedia group who have maintained strict anonymity since forming in San Francisco in the early 1970s. Members wear eyeball masks and top hats in public, and their identities have never been officially confirmed. The group founded their own label, Ralph Records, in 1972, through which they released a prolific catalogue of albums, films, and multimedia projects.
Their music draws from rock, classical, electronic, and global traditions, subjected to radical deconstruction.
