Misfits

The Misfits are an American punk band from Lodi, New Jersey, formed in 1977 by Glenn Danzig. Drawing on 1950s horror films, science fiction B-movies, and classic rock and roll, Danzig developed a genre they called horror punk — fast, catchy songs with ghoulish imagery and operatically melodramatic vocals. Records including Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983) on Plan 9 Records are touchstones of hardcore punk and influenced countless subsequent artists across punk, metal, and alternative music. Danzig left in 1983, with a long dispute over the band's intellectual property; various lineups have since continued under the name.
