The Grey Organisation
The Grey Organisation was a British artist collective active from 1983 to 1991, formed in Bow, East London, by Toby Mott, Daniel Saccoccio, Tim Burke, and Paul Spencer out of the punk and anarchist youth politics of the early 1980s. Rejecting the usual countercultural look, the group dressed uniformly in grey suits with shaved heads, parodying the corporate conformity of Thatcherite Britain while staging provocations, exhibitions, film, and video across more than twenty international shows. While based in New York later in the decade, they produced album art for Tommy Boy Records, most notably the cover for De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising, before disbanding in 1991.
