The Droids

Formed in France in the 1970s by Fabrice Cuitad and Yves Hayat, The Droids fused electronic disco with early synthesizer sequencing on their sole album Star Peace, released on the Barclay label in 1978. Their single (Do You Have) The Force drew on Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, and Jean-Michel Jarre. Short-lived but influential, The Droids are now recognised as a formative step in the evolution of French electronic music, their masked stage presence and machinic aesthetic anticipating the strand of the genre that would later surface in Daft Punk.
