The Cure

The Cure is an English post-punk and gothic rock band formed in Crawley in 1976, built around the songwriting of Robert Smith. From the stark minimalism of Seventeen Seconds (1980) and Faith (1981) through the nightmarish density of Pornography (1982) to the more accessible melancholia of Disintegration (1989), Smith mapped an interior landscape of grief, anxiety, and romantic obsession that defined gothic and alternative rock aesthetics for decades. Their influence on post-punk, dream pop, and independent music is extensive, and they have sustained an evolving presence across more than four decades of recording and performance.
