The Cherry Point

The Cherry Point is the alias of Phil Blankenship, an American noise artist based in San Francisco. Working in power electronics and harsh noise, he has released extensively on Hospital Productions, American Tapes, and other noise underground labels since the early 2000s. His approach deploys maximal sound pressure, distortion, and abrasive electronic texture in the tradition of American power electronics. He has collaborated with Aaron Dilloway and other figures in the Midwestern and West Coast noise underground, and his label work has been a significant part of the American experimental distribution network.
