Tetsuo Furudate

Tetsuo Furudate is a Tokyo-born artist who began in experimental film and video art in 1981 before turning toward sound through performance during the mid-1980s, becoming part of the early Japanese noise scene alongside figures such as Merzbow. Since 1998 he has worked extensively across Europe, presenting concerts and releases throughout the continent.

His output spans noise, industrial, and modern composition, including collaborations with Zbigniew Karkowski, Kasper T. Toeplitz, and Leif Elggren, notably the album World As Will on Staalplaat. In 2001 his experimental noise opera Othello premiered at Podewil in Berlin. He received the Blaue Brucke prize in 2003.
