Tetsu Inoue

Tetsu Inoue (born 1958) is a Japanese electronic musician based in New York. Releasing on FAX+49-69/450464 and Sub Rosa from the early 1990s, he developed a deeply immersive ambient and drone practice that expanded the template established by ambient music toward greater density and complexity. His Ambiant Otaku (1994) and subsequent releases built layered, slow-moving electronic environments with an attention to timbral richness that distinguished him from minimalist ambient. He has collaborated with Atom Heart (Uwe Schmidt) and released prolifically across experimental and ambient circuits. His work anticipates much of what became known as ambient techno and IDM.
