Terry Fox
Terry Fox (1943–2008) was an American performance and sound artist based for much of his career in San Francisco and later in Europe. Beginning in the late 1960s, his performance work was among the most rigorous and influential coming out of the Bay Area, characterized by extreme physical endurance, duration, and a spare, contemplative relationship to the body in space. He worked alongside David Ireland and Paul Kos in the San Francisco Bay Area conceptual art scene.
Fox later developed a sustained sound practice focused on vibrating rods, resonating materials, and the subtle sonic phenomena that occur in specific physical and spatial relationships.
