Tempat Angker

Tempat Angker (haunted or eerie place in Indonesian/Malay) is a project exploring ceremonial, spectral, and traditional music from Indonesia and the broader Malay-speaking world. The name suggests an engagement with the supernatural dimensions of Indonesian musical culture — including gamelan and other ritual music associated with spirits, healing, and the boundary between living and dead. Such music has been documented on Sublime Frequencies and related labels, and the project name evokes both the sonic atmosphere of Indonesian ritual music and the liminal spaces it is intended to occupy.
