Telefonia

Telefonia is an experimental music project working with telephone and telecommunication technologies as compositional material. Drawing on the history of telephone-based art and the specific sonic character of phone networks — tone, interference, and transmission noise — the project develops compositions that use these technologies as both instrument and subject. Its work participates in a tradition of telecommunications art that includes Bill Fontana, Alvin Lucier, and others who have treated phone and radio infrastructure as artistic material.
