Tania Candiani
Born in Mexico City in 1974, she works across sound installation, text, and performance, investigating translation between linguistic, visual, and phonic systems. A 2011 Guggenheim Fellow, she received the Prix Ars Electronica Award of Distinction in Hybrid Arts in 2013. In 2015 she co-represented Mexico at the 56th Venice Biennale with the project Possessing Nature alongside Luis Felipe Ortega. Following a 2018 Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship and a residency at Arts at CERN in Geneva, she developed Quantum Prelude (2022), a two-channel audiovisual work with octophonic sound premiered at UNAM's Sculptural Space in Mexico City.
