Taeji Sawai
Born in Japan in 1978, Taeji Sawai works across sound design, composition, and audiovisual performance. Since 2000 he has performed internationally as part of the pioneering audiovisual unit portable[k]ommunity, collaborating with artists including Daito Manabe and EYE of Boredoms. With EYE and art engineer Kazuhiro Jo he formed the unit AEO, performing at the DEAF festival in the Netherlands and Fuji Rock in 2008. In 2009 he founded the creative studio Qosmo. His installation Sound of Honda / Ayrton Senna 1989 reconstructed Senna's 1989 Suzuka qualifying lap through sound and light, winning the Grand Prix at Cannes Lions and a Black Pencil at D&AD in 2014.
