Supersilent

Supersilent is a Norwegian improvisational group formed in 1997, comprising Arve Henriksen (trumpet), Helge Sten (Deathprod, electronics), Ståle Storløkken (keyboards), and initially Jarle Vespestad (drums). Their albums — numbered sequentially from 1–3 (1997) onward — document entirely improvised sessions without overdubs or editing, building atmospheres that range from extreme quiet to dense noise and oblique jazz. Released primarily on Rune Grammofon, they have produced one of the most consistently challenging bodies of work in Scandinavian experimental music. Sten's electronic processing and Henriksen's extended trumpet technique are defining components of their sound.
