Sudden Infant / No Is E

Sudden Infant is the project of Swiss artist Joke Lanz (born 1964), active since the mid-1980s in performance art, noise, and electroacoustic music. His practice combines extreme body performance, text, and noise in a confrontational and often self-directed assault — recordings of bodily sounds, improvisations with contact microphones on the body, and theatrical performances. No Is E is a related project extending these ideas through further electronic treatment. Lanz has released extensively on Odd Size, No Fun Productions, and other labels and has collaborated with Dieter Roth, Seth Cooke, and many others.
