Sublime Frequencies

Sublime Frequencies is an American archival and ethnographic label founded in 2003 by Alan Bishop and his brother Hisham Bishop in Seattle. Releasing field recordings, bootleg radio transmissions, traditional music, and popular music from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, North Africa, and beyond, the label operates with a deliberately lo-fi, immersive aesthetic that resists academic framing. Releases have documented music from Morocco, Burma, Syria, Niger, Indonesia, and many other regions. The label functions alongside Alan Bishop's band Sun City Girls as a vehicle for radical archival curiosity and anti-colonial music archaeology.
