Steve Heather

Born in Melbourne, Steve Heather is a percussionist, composer, and performance-maker based in Berlin. He studied percussion and improvisation at the Victoria College of the Arts in Melbourne, and performance art at Das Arts in Amsterdam, before relocating to Berlin in the mid-1990s, where he has since performed and recorded across Australia, Europe, the Americas, and Asia. His work spans free improvisation, electroacoustic music, noise, and drone, and he has been a member of the Splitter Orchestra — Berlin's large-scale collective rooted in the Echtzeitmusik scene — since its founding in 2010. Current projects include Stiff Leather, The Still, and Booklet.
