Stéphane Kropf
Born in Lausanne in 1979, Stéphane Kropf is a Swiss artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation, with a sustained focus on the phenomenology of perception and optical effect. He studied at the Ecole cantonale d'art de Lausanne, where he now heads the Bachelor of Visual Arts programme. His large-format abstract canvases often employ interference paint — pigment capable of reflecting both a given colour and its complementary hue depending on viewing angle — to investigate the instability of visual experience. In 2014 he presented the exhibition AUDIO, VIDEO, OMNIA VOLVIT at Circuit in Lausanne; his work is held in the collection of the Mirabaud Group.
