Stephan Dillemuth
Born in Büdingen in 1954, Stephan Dillemuth is a German artist whose work spans painting, performance, video, installation, and publication, consistently probing the social and institutional conditions of artistic life. He studied at the art academies in Munich and Düsseldorf, and has taught art pedagogy at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich for many years. His research method, which he calls 'bohemistic', draws on historical movements such as the German life reform movement and Munich's turn-of-century bohemia. In 1985 he repainted the entire Gallery of Beauties at Schloss Nymphenburg through a punk lens; from 1997 he collaborated with Werner von Delmont on the publication Corporate Rokoko.
