Stefano Pilia

Stefano Pilia is an Italian guitarist, double bassist, and composer, born in Genoa in 1978, based in Bologna since 1995, where he studied classical double bass and electroacoustic music at the G.B. Martini Conservatory. In 2002, with Valerio Tricoli and Claudio Rocchetti, he founded 3/4HadBeenEliminated, working across electroacoustic composition, improvisation, and rock. His solo output, released on Nonesuch, Black Truffle, and Drag City, investigates the sculptural properties of sound and its relationship to space, memory, and the suspension of time. Since 2012 he has been lead guitarist for Malian singer Rokia Traoré, and since 2015 for Italian band Afterhours.
