Squarepusher

Squarepusher is the alias of Tom Jenkinson, a musician and producer from Chelmsford, England, releasing on Warp Records since 1996. A virtuoso electric bassist as well as an electronic producer, Jenkinson developed a hyperkinetic approach to drum and bass and IDM that drew from jazz fusion, combining machine-speed breakbeat programming with live instrumentation and technical facility. Feed Me Weird Things (1996), Hard Normal Daddy (1997), and Music Is Rotted One Note (1998) are landmarks of the Warp catalogue. His work ranges from frenzied drill and bass to meditative solo bass performances, unified by an interest in the limits of rhythmic and technical extremity.
