Spiritualized

Spiritualized is the project of Jason Pierce (J Spaceman), an English musician from Rugby, formed in 1990 after the dissolution of Spacemen 3. Where Spacemen 3 drew on blues, drone, and the Velvet Underground, Spiritualized expanded the palette to include orchestration, gospel, and free jazz — resulting in Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space (1997), a record of extraordinary ambition combining dense sonic arrangements with Pierce's unflinching examination of addiction and love. Subsequent albums Let It Come Down (2001) and Sweet Heart Sweet Light (2012) maintained the scale and intensity. Pierce has remained the project's sole constant member.
