Spiral Tribe
Spiral Tribe is a UK sound system and arts collective formed in 1990 by Mark Harrison, Debbie Griffith and Simone Feeney, throwing dozens of free parties across Britain. Their Castlemorton Common Festival of May 1992 drew tens of thousands and made national headlines; thirteen members faced trial for public order offences and were acquitted, but the event fed into the UK's Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, targeting gatherings around "repetitive beats." Half the collective relocated to continental Europe, seeding the teknival circuit. Their label Network 23 pressed the blueprint for hard tec and tribe techno, and the collective reformed as SP23 in 2011, still organising events.
