Solmania
Solmania is the project of Masahiko Ohno, a Japanese noise musician born in 1958, active in Osaka since the early 1980s. A direct contemporary of Hijokaidan, Incapacitants and Merzbow within the founding generation of Japanese noise music, his primary instruments are homemade multi-necked electric guitars built from salvaged and scrap components — unusual, asymmetrical objects that are as much sculpture as musical instrument — which he plays through heavily distorted amplifiers and effects in extended solo performances of considerable physical intensity.
