Smut

Smut is an experimental noise and electronic music project whose name follows the blunt, provocative naming conventions common to the underground noise and tape scene. Like many such projects, it operates outside the conventional music industry, releasing material in small batches via Bandcamp and cassette-focused DIY labels.

Its work draws on noise, harsh electronics and abstract sound collage, favouring raw, unpolished production over studio refinement. As with much of this underground circuit, Smut's releases circulate through word of mouth, online tape directories and trades among collectors of experimental and noise music, rather than mainstream distribution or press coverage.
