Skream

Skream (Oliver Dene Jones, born 1986) is a British DJ and producer from Croydon, south London, one of the central figures of the dubstep genre. Beginning to produce at age fourteen, his half-speed, sub-bass-heavy productions on Tempa Records — particularly Skream! (2006) — helped define the sound of the Rinse FM and DMZ club era of dubstep. His track Midnight Request Line became one of the defining records of the genre. He later transitioned toward house and disco-influenced production and DJ-ing as dubstep's underground phase passed into mainstream pop, but his early releases remain essential documents of South London bass culture.
