Sister Iodine

Formed in Paris in 1992 by guitarist Erik Minkkinen, bassist Lionel Fernandez, and drummer Nicolas Mazet, the trio spent the early 1990s channelling New York No Wave — DNA, Mars, Red Transistor — through a French experimental sensibility, releasing their debut ADN115 in 1994. The band was active through 1997, reconvened in 2004, and has continued to evolve, absorbing black metal and power electronics into their noise rock foundation. Repetitive bass lines, abrasive guitar textures, and confrontational live performance remain constants, positioned at the collision of savage No Wave energy, collage tape practice, and the scientistic rock of groups like This Heat.
