Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson

Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson is an Icelandic sound artist born in 1974, based in Reykjavík. He is a founding member of Stilluppsteypa, the influential Icelandic electronic trio he formed in the early 1990s with Helgi Thorsson and Heimir Björgúlfsson, which has become one of the most consistently inventive and internationally recognised groups in the Icelandic experimental scene.

Stilluppsteypa's recordings — released on Ritornell, Nature Bliss, Sónar, Ash International and other labels — blend noise, found sound, field recordings, electronics and humour into work that refuses easy categorisation, moving between abstract electronics and something approaching lo-fi composition.
